Dr. Sonja Klingert joined ESIS on July 1st as a Senior Researcher.
Trained as an economist, Sonja has specialized in energy informatics since the 2010s, working within EU research projects. Her focus lies on load management and demand response, in other words the question of how electricity consumption can be shifted in time so that it matches supply.
The use cases of her previous projects range from data centers to electro mobility and buildings, through to entire districts working towards climate neutrality. More recently she has added a behavioral perspective to her work. Her reasoning: energy flexibility can be described in technical terms, but it cannot be delivered without accounting for the needs of the people expected to provide it.
"All this fits perfectly with the research areas of ESIS, and I am very confident that we will be doing a lot of super exciting research together in the coming years," Sonja says about her start.
