
Welcome Prof. Dr. Philipp Staudt: Research Group Information Systems II - Digital Energy

We are pleased to announce that as of February 2, 2026, Prof. Dr. Philipp Staudt has started his position as Junior Professor and Head of the Research Group Information Systems II - Digital Energy Markets at the Institute for Information Systems (WIN) at KIT.
Prof. Staudt's research focuses on the digitalization of energy systems and sustainable digitalization more broadly, with particular emphasis on digitalized energy systems, agent-based modeling, data management and sustainable information systems. His work addresses critical challenges in integrating renewable energies, supporting the energy transition through digital technologies and sustainable organizational digitalization.
Prior to joining KIT, Prof. Staudt held a position at the University of Oldenburg as a professor for Environmental and Sustainable Information Systems. Previously, he worked at MIT as a PostDoc. Prof. Staudt has a KIT background and has led the Smart Grids and Energy Markets group at WIN in the research group of Christof Weinhardt. We look forward to Prof. Staudt's contributions to research and teaching at WIN and wish him every success in his new role.
