| Content | This lecture provides students with essential research methods for studying sustainability challenges in information systems. The course begins with an introduction to Green IS and sustainability fundamentals, establishing the theoretical foundation for understanding how information systems can contribute to environmental and social goals. Students will gain insight into current research topics and debates in the field of sustainable information systems. The core of the course focuses on key research methodologies used in MIS research, including qualitative approaches such as case study research, as well as quantitative methods including surveys, laboratory experiments, and field experiments. Each method is introduced through published research papers from the sustainability domain, allowing students to see how these approaches are applied in practice. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the methodological toolkit needed to design and conduct rigorous research on sustainability questions in information systems contexts. |
